Jianpeng Yao

Hello 👋, I’m Jianpeng Yao, a first-year Ph.D. student at TASL, advised by Prof. Jiachen Li. My research interests lie in robotics and machine learning (especially in reinforcement learning), with a focus on developing trustworthy algorithms for real-world robotic applications.

Before attending UCR, I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. I conducted research on introducing reinforcement learning to magnetic soft robots when I was a graduate student at HUST and then worked as an algorithm engineer in the autonomous driving industry for a year.
